Reminder, a sparkling start to 2023 NEWZ event

To start off activity in 2023 NEWZ is organising a social event before the start of vintage.
NEWZ will provide an update on what we have heard from you in the surveys/ interviews that have been collected.
Dr Ian Porter will also give an update on the development of the app attached to the smoke sensor network.
Prosecco, Shiraz or Rose, what’s your latest sparkling wine? NEWZ community wineries and growers are invited to come and share your latest sparkling wine with the NEWZ community. We invite you to stand up and share a quick summary of the wine, the fruit that was used in its production and the growing season that produced it. Wines will be purchased by NEWZ (AgBiz Assist) for this event.

Introduction to Sustainable Winegrowing Australia and carbon calculating workshops

As part of the Growing Victorian Wine into the Future program supported by Wine Victoria, the AWRI is presenting four sustainability workshops in Victoria in February. These workshops will present a range of drivers for sustainable production and demonstrate the tools and resources available through Sustainable Winegrowing Australia to support sustainable practices. They will explore how to use the Australian Wine Carbon Calculator and discuss the input categories and emissions factors. The workshops will detail life-cycle assessments to better define emissions within the wine industry and some of the mitigation strategies for viticulture and winemaking businesses. Case studies will show how Sustainable Winegrowing Australia members benchmark their greenhouse gas emissions against other members.
